Named Successor Trustee in 2006, Fareed Zakaria is host of CNN’s Emmy–nominated Fareed Zakaria GPS, Editor at Large of TIME, a Washington Post columnist, and a New York Times bestselling author. A 1986 alumnus of Yale College, he also earned a Ph.D. from Harvard and has taught international relations and political philosophy at Harvard and Columbia universities. From 1992 to 2000, he was managing editor of Foreign Affairs. He served as editor of Newsweek International from 2000 to 2010, overseeing all editions abroad. He has authored and edited several books, most recently The Post–American World (2008) and The Future of Freedom: Illiberal Democracy at Home and Abroad (2003); both books have been translated into more than twenty languages. Mr. Zakaria serves on several boards, including the Council on Foreign Relations. At Yale he serves on the President’s Council on International Activities and has spoken on campus on several occasions.
