As a University hiring manager, we can help you find just the right person to fill your temporary staffing needs just when you need help.
Before approaching an external employment service or casual employee, learn more about Yale’s in-house services and requirements.
Why use help from within Yale for temporary assistance?
Hiring managers, employees and the University all benefit when a department fills a temporary staffing need from within Yale. As a hiring manager, you will:
- Save time - Staff members available for temporary assignments have already completed the rigorous Yale hiring process, have existing NetIDs and e-mail accounts, and are acclimated to the complex University environment.
- Save money - There are no fees associated with recruiting or hiring costs. You will only pay the base rate (plus fringe) of the position requested.
- Operate efficiently - Your occasional employment needs may be best served with temporary assistance that helps you to manage with flexibility.
Take the first step
The first step in recruiting help is to complete a Temporary Employment Request through the online STARS system. Here’s how.
Our Interim Employment Pool manager will review your requirements and send a qualified Interim Employment Pool candidate to you, if available. Learn more about the Interim Employment Pool.
If an appropriate IEP candidate is not available, the IEP manager will forward your request to Yale Temporary Staffing Services (YTSS). Learn more about YTSS.
YTSS will either send a floating permanent Yale employee to you or provide a release number so that you may contact a casual employee or external temporary employment service. View information on using an external employment service.
